| Nan's garden in 2011 |
You'll see a variety of fruit trees, berries, shrubs and herbs, in addition to perennial and annual vegetables and herbs, mixed into a wonderfully vibrant urban garden. The roses were beautiful when I dropped by recently. Check out Nan's Broad St. plant list for more information, as well as for background on her bark house. The bark house is fascinating, built as Nan and her husband Saul's new home in Asheville in 2008. This article, recently published in Appalachian Voices describes its virtues and history.
P.S. If you're interested in learning more about Asheville's storied architecture and built environment, Nan's book, Asheville: A History, is a great reference.

This is one event I'll be sorry to miss. Will be wending my way home at this time, unfortunately. Have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI just re-read Christopher's info and realized that I can be there. Hooray!
DeleteThink I missed the info about signing up. Have I done so, or is there still room?
ReplyDeleteYou may come. It is an open house from 9 to 11am. The RSVP was to help give Nan our hostess an approximate headcount for the continental breakfast.
DeleteThis is awesome! I love planting edible plant around my house but I never thought that it would be as exciting as having an edible landscape. Thank you for sharing!
